A monumental Chinese funerary horse lying across a 6 ft. long bench

The Restoration:

It was imperative that the pieces to this horse be reattached in the correct sequence.

First, the base was reconstructed and then the horse was hoisted down onto it.

In doing so, all four legs of the horse were glued simultaneously.

Preparation work included grinding all the broken joints and inserting steel pins.

It's important to grind or groove all the joints to assure a better bond and to subtract enough material to make up for the thickness of the polymer epoxy resin.
