"The Captain" was masterfully carved
from solid walnut.

The precocious octopus has somehow done
away with the captain of the ship, and claimed
his boot and hat!
Dimitri has personified the octopus to display
a shamefaced expression. But up close, the
octopus' face is adorable.
The 19th century boot exhibits a tremendous
amount of realistic detail, associated with a
handmade boot of the time. From leather
laces (not seen in the photo) on the upper
part of the boot, to the stitching around the
sole, the wood is crafted to resemble
real leather.

This sculpture would make a real conversation piece in the home or office of a yachtsman! Or for someone who is one with the ocean.
